Happy Mother's Day!!

I LOVE this picture!
Today is Mother's Day and I feel like the luckiest mom on earth. Really. AB is such a joy and we had a great day today. We started out taking the dogs out for a romp, then left them at home and we went for a walk with the buggy. (I like to take the dogs out too but we create a traffic hazard - people stare at us until they almost crash). On the way home, we stopped and got some Gerbera daisies for the house - so pretty!

THEN - AB gave me a great present. She went poop in the potty for the very first time! (She's probably going to be horrified when she reads this or hears this story years from now - but since she did it on Mother's Day, I'll never forget the date!) It was funny too, because I thought it would be a while still. She's been doing great with potty training - even waking up dry and saying "go potty" or waking in the middle of the night saying the same. When it came to "big potty" (i.e. #2) though - she was not having any part of it! She would ask for a diaper, which indicated that she knew what was coming, but no amount of encouragement would get her to try it on the potty! This morning, she asked for a diaper, so I knew she had to go. I told her she was wearing a pull-up and could go potty in it if she needed to, but she insisted for a while that I put her in a regular diaper. Then, out of the blue, she said "big potty" and she meant she wanted to sit on the big toilet (with the child seat), so I helped her get up there, and SHE DID IT! Such a big girl! And then, the rest of the day, she was in big girl underpants (with Curious George on them) all day long and had no accidents, going once at a restaurant and twice in the potty we have in the back of the car. I'm such a proud mama today! :) :) :)

After her nap, we went out to lunch at the vegetarian restaurant. It is a great restaurant - no smoking allowed! The food is really great too - they make all these faux meat dishes like Peking Duck and Sweet & Sour Pork, but all from soy or other vegetables. Great stuff. AB didn't eat much and she was "done" before too long - she got up and wanted to play on the steps (only two of them and they were shallow, so I was not worried she'd hurt herself). There was a mirror at the bottom of the step and she was having a blast jumping and twirling and watching herself. She'd come running back to me for "more kisses!" and then go back and play. It was the best.
We went out with the dogs after our day out (lunch and shopping) and I brought the mosquito zapper with me because there are SO many mosquitos out in the courtyard! Some other kids left some badminton racquets out there and AB picked them up and was playing with them. (The mosquito zapper is a racquet too - so I had mine and she had hers!) She would tap hers against mine and say "cheers" in Chinese! :)
