Guanyin Temple in Toisan

Today we went to Toisan, as it's called in Cantonese (it's Taishan in Mandarin). This is the part of China that both of my grandparents' families are originally from. On her mom's side, my mom is fourth generation American-born. Her dad came to America from Toisan as a boy. We imagine that we must have relatives in Toisan, but we don't know of any, and we don't even know specifically which part of Toisan was once home to our ancestors. We still wanted to see the area, so we hired a driver to take us out there. We just drove around a bit, had lunch in a Cantonese restaurant, and tried to go to the Toisan Museum (it's about all the people who emigrated from Toisan to other countries). It wasn't open until 2:30pm, so we asked if there was a Buddhist temple, and found our way to this one! We had a great time looking at the temple and visiting with a monk there. (He happened to be from Kunming - where AB was born!)
