Temple of the Emerald Buddha

Next on our tour was the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, which is adjacent to the Grand Palace. All I can say is "wow!" Everything was so goldy and sparkly - really, really impressive! The Emerald Buddha itself is actually made of jade or something else, but they call it the Emerald Buddha anyway. It's kind of small and it's way way way up high, in a glass box, and you can't take pics inside. But the grounds are beautiful enough! Who needs pics of the Buddha inside? :) The King of Thailand changes the robes on the Buddha three times a year. This is said to be the most revered temple in Bangkok.

this was neat - looked like a model of something made out of sand. I actually have no idea what it really is.
