A.B. is learning to walk!

She's been standing on her own for a while now... and this past week has started taking steps. She's up to maybe 8-10 steps before diving into something. She doesn't usually fall, but she either flops down on her knees, does a belly slide (as if into second base), or will fly into my arms/lap if she's walking to me.

Meimei means "little sister"... yesterday was our neighbor's birthday, and we were invited for lunch, cake and play.

Okay, so here's something really strange... I can add publish to blogger or use Hello by Picasa to add pics and publish this... but I can't view my own site on blogspot because it gets blocked over here... So forgive me if I repeat pics or if things are out of order. I just started this today (March 13, 2006) and I have LOTS of pics I may want to add to it... so I will try to put the date of the pics in, and then at some point I will start entering pics closer to real-time and the chronology will all be right...

New white background, new white fuzzy rug thingy, new chair... got some fake flowers too... still working on getting the lighting right so I won't get shadows behind her.

"I don't want to sit still... but I will flop around on the fuzzy rug!"

I am SO lucky to have such a happy, smiling subject!!!

Grandma bought this hippo for AngelBaby when we were home visiting last September. It's a great toy - push it for support learning to walk, and you can put the handle down so it's a ride-on toy. It even eats little blocks when you push it over them! A.B. LOVES this toy... here she is with her ayi, walking (sometimes running) up and down the hallway).

Okay, so when AngelBaby turned a year old, I took her to have a portrait made. Little did I know that I could not simply order portraits that I liked, in the quantities that I wanted, and spend loads of money. No. I could only buy a book of photos that I did not particularly want, and then I could buy or be given additional portraits that I could hang on a wall or put in a wallet. I got so irritated at not being able to order and buy what I wanted that I decided to make my own studio. I had curtain rods hung behind my already-in-place futon, and I bought a bunch of fabric for backgrounds and futon coverings, and a friend made us a board to put on the futon under chairs and other things that might tip on a soft surface like a bed. I ordered a soft focus filter (didn't have it yet for these pics), a remote shutter release, set up the tri-pod, and off we go! :) These are some of the first, experimental pics.

Valentine's Day Sugar Fest

We had a chocolate fest at the community center on Feb. 11, 2006... A.B. napped through much of it, but woke up in time to play, and to show off her cute valentiney outfit!
